2018 Legislative Session Week 5
This week was important for both suicide prevention and alcohol laws. Earlier this week, the Teen Suicide Prevention Task Force presented some recommendations, focusing on response, risk factors and prevention. These recommendations will hopefully form new bills that will make a significant difference. Suicide prevention is gaining more attention in Utah because of this, more solutions will be put in place.
Today, HB98 and HB149 passed the House. HB98 will get rid of DUI language that would have targeted new foreign drivers. HB149 will allow the DABC to control more of their funding so they can build more stores, since they are behind. These bills will give more alcohol freedom back to the people and allow Utah to catch up to the alcohol availability in other states.
